As a scholar of 19th-century law and literature, I examine the intersection of the two fields primarily through 1) the maritime world; and 2) slavery (specifically, in colonial New England). My undergraduate teaching includes courses in early American literature, literature of the sea, war literature, survival literature, and graphic narrative.
